Arranging contemporary furniture in any space can seem like an overwhelming task. 1. Build Around a Focal Point

A large modern coffee table enables you to put up your feet, display knick knacks and even place your drinks on top. If a large coffee table is impossible for your space, consider placing two smaller ones. 

8. Layers of Lighting

Use a mixture of lights to create layers of lighting. This can include table lamps, sconces, floor lamps, overhead lights and chandeliers. Floor lamps look perfect near a sofa or behind an accent chair. Table lamps are ideal for mantels, shelves and on side tables. Sconces draw the eye towards a specific feature in the room, i.e. artwork. Layers of light help to create a warm ambience in your space.
